Laura W. Carter is a native of Oxford, Alabama. After graduating from the University of Montevallo with a Master of Education in 2009, she began her career as a high school history teacher. Laura writes kidlit for all ages and has dedicated her adult life to encouraging children (and adults) to explore their world through stories, history, and learning. Her first picture book, A Steminist Force, released in 2024 from Familius. Her second picture book, What Will I Be from A to Z, released in 2025, also from Familius. In addition to picture books, Laura also writes middle grade and young adult novels. She is an active member of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI) and the 12×12 Picture Book Community. She continues to work as a National Board Certified history teacher and resides with her husband and son in the USA’s very own Rocket City – Huntsville, Alabama.
